Stars Beat Detroit... IN DETROIT!

Remember when Stars fans were up in arms over the blown call on Nick Grossman against the Flames in overtime? I wasn't... because these things even out over time.

Tonight was proof of that. In the third period, with Dallas up by a score of 2-1, Brad May shot a weak backhander between Auldy's left pad and the goal post. It definitely went in the net. It definitely crossed the line. The whistle definitely hadn't been blown, nor should there have been any intent for it to blow on a routine shot that went straight into the net. However, the refs missed it and no one made a fuss about it until Brad May started celebrating.

They then went up-stairs and reviewed it, and decided that it indeed was not a goal because the whistle had blown. Idiotic... but I'll take it. I didn't get upset over the Grossman penalty because things even out over time. This evened it out. Now it's Detroit with an IOU from the hockey gods. They'll live, no matter how up in arms they may be.

Other than that, the Stars played a really solid complete game against the Detroit Red Wings... and won... IN DETROIT! Thankfully, by more than a 1 goal margin, so the bitching doesn't hold nearly the weight that it could have. Alex Auld stood tall in net and made several big saves early in probably his best game as a Star. The new-fangled lineup seemed to work well, with Modano playing with Morrow, and Ribeiro and Ott trying to rekindle last year's magic. Brad Richards was still Brad Richards, and this season, that means something. Add on top of that, Matt Niskanen managed to score his first goal of the season, for the second game in a row! How many players can say that?

Overall, a great night for the green and gold of Dallas. I'm a legit fan of Marc Crawford now, and you should be too. Haven't been this pleased with the coach since Hitch. The Stars had a gameplan, stuck to it, and beat the hated Wings with relative ease. Couldn't ask for a better road effort. Now they'll fly home and take on the Columbus Blue Jackets at American Airlines Center Thursday night... in a home game that will surely feel like a road game, in terms of travel for our boys.

Quick Note:
I was browsing DallasStars.com and I found a pretty confusing graphic attached to a pretty awesome deal on tickets. Incase the graphic gets fixed before you read this, here's the original on my Photobucket account... I'm probably going to end up grabbing myself one of these Holiday Hat Tricks (who doesn't want a Dallas Stars snuggie?!), but who exactly am I going to get to see? The graphic says St. Louis, Phoenix, and the Islanders, in that order. The schedule says we play the Islanders, Avalanche, and Coyotes... in that order. I'm inclined to believe the schedule over the graphic... Either way, I'm going so I can watch the team in black sweaters on those nights. Who cares who we're playing against? Especially since I'll have a freaking Dallas Stars snuggie. I can finally get one of those ever-so-popular reverse bathrobes, without the guilt of being a TV-shopping weirdo! Thank you, Dallas Stars. Once again, you've made my day.
